Glitz Blitz and 70s Hitz 2003
Glitz Blitz 70s Hitz 2003 Poster

On Wednesday 16th April 2003 I was back at Cheltenham Town Hall to see the Glitz, Blitz & 70s Hitz show featuring Showaddywaddy, Sweet and The Rubettes.

First on stage were the Rubettes who performed the hits SUGAR BABY LOVE, I CAN DO IT, JUKE BOX JIVE and TONIGHT to name but a few. Although I enjoyed the performance I did not think it was as good as the previous time in 1999.

Next up was The Sweet, now with only one original member (the guitarist ANDY SCOTT), tracks performed included THE BALLROOM BLITZ, BLOCKBUSTER!, TEENAGE RAMPAGE, WIG-WAM BAM and my favourite Sweet song LOVE IS LIKE OXYGEN, at which point I went wild. When they performed BLOCKBUSTER! all I could think of was OTWAY.

During the interval I met Andy Scott and had my photo taken with him (see the index page for 2003).

After the interval it was time for Showaddywaddy, this made me quite sad as I kept thinking of James (from my school days) who was a big fan. Amongst the tracks performed were UNDER THE MOON OF LOVE, A LITTLE BIT OF SOAP, PRETTY LITTLE ANGEL EYES and THREE STEPS TO HEAVEN.

The Line-ups for each group were as follows:-
